How to Enter:
NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. No purchase or payment necessary to enter or win. Purchase will not improve an entry’s chance of winning. The Contest commences on October 25, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. EST and closes on December 1, 2019 at 11:59 p.m. EST (the Contest Period). To enter, visit the web site located at www.besteverbookclub.ca and fill out the entry form with your name, email address, phone number, city, province and postal code plus the name of your book club. All entries must be submitted online no later than 11:59 p.m. EST, on December 1, 2019, the Contest Closing Date.
Participation is limited to one (1) entry per person, per household address, per email address, during the Contest Period. Website tracking determines date and time of entry. If it is discovered that you attempted to enter more than once, all your entries will be void. Arterra Wines Canada, Inc. (the “Sponsor”) is not responsible for technical, hardware or software malfunctions, lost, delayed or corrupted data transmission, line failures of any network or telephone, or inability to access the website.
This Contest is open to legal residents of Canada (excluding Québec Yukon, Nunavut, and the Northwest Territories), who are members of and representative of an existing Canadian book club, who are of legal drinking age in their home province, except directors, officers, employees and contractors (and those with whom they are domiciled, and their immediate families, which includes spouse, sibling, parent and child) of the Sponsor, and the Provincial liquor boards and commissions (namely the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario, Alberta Gaming and Liquor Commission , British Columbia Liquor Distribution Branch, Liquor Control Board of Ontario, Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries, Newfoundland and Labrador Liquor Corporation, New Brunswick Liquor Corporation, Nova Scotia Liquor Corporation, Prince Edward Island Liquor Control Commission, Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming Authority), and their agents or representatives, liquor licensees or any distributor or company involved in any phase of Contest administration.

There is one (1) Grand Prize to be won, consisting of one (1) “Best Ever Book Club experience” which includes a personal visit to your January book club meeting at your home by author Thea Lim on a mutually agreeable date in January 2020, subject to author’s availability, to chat about her acclaimed book An Ocean of Minutes, plus up to twenty (20) copies of her book (depending on the number of book club members) having a retail value of approximately $20 each, plus one (1) gift card valued at $1,000 CAD for Woodbridge by Robert Mondavi wine for your future book club gatherings. The Sponsor will also provide food for a group of up to twenty (20) people (valued at no more than $500 CAD) for the book club event. Sponsor will pay for and arrange travel to and from the book club meeting for Thea Lim, including any accommodations that may be required to have her attend the book club meeting, up to $2,400 CAD.
The contest winner is responsible for providing a home venue for the event – no venue costs will be assumed by the Contest Sponsor, which reserves the right at any time to substitute the Grand Prize (or component thereof) for any reason, so long as a prize (or component) of comparable value is substituted.
All book club attendees must be of legal drinking age in their home provinces. The approximate retail value of the Grand Prize is up to approximately $4,300 CAD. (There will be no compensation made if the cost of transportation and accommodations for Thea Lim are less than calculated for these rules, which allow for travel to either end of Canada.) The Grand Prize must be accepted as awarded, is not transferable and is not redeemable for cash.
On or about December 2, 2019, a potential winner will be selected in a random drawing from all entries received at approximately 12:00 p.m. in Mississauga, Ontario. To be declared a winner, the selected entrant must have complied with these Official Rules and must correctly answer a time-limited mathematical, skill-testing question to be administered by telephone without assistance of any kind (or as otherwise agreed); plus sign a Declaration of Compliance with the Contest Rules, accepting the Prize as awarded, and a Liability and Publicity Release acknowledging and releasing contest Sponsor and the author plus her representative(s), their respective officers, directors, agents, representatives, successors and assigns from any liability (including, without limitation, any damages, losses or injury) in connection with this Contest, the awarding of the Prize and/or resulting from acceptance or use of the Grand Prize.
The odds of winning depend upon the number of eligible entries received. The selected entrant will be notified by email, or by telephone, within 2 business days of the draw date. If a selected entrant cannot be contacted within that period of time, if there is a return of any Prize notification as undeliverable, or if the selected entrant fails to comply with any of the foregoing, that selected entrant will be disqualified, and an alternate entrant will be selected from among the remaining eligible entries. Winners must provide proof that they are of legal age to purchase alcohol products in the form of government issued photo ID.
The Provincial liquor agencies are not connected with this Contest in any manner whatsoever and are not liable in any way whatsoever for any matter that relates to this Contest. The Sponsor reserves the right to terminate or amend this Contest, in whole or in part, without prior notice.
By accepting the Prize, the winner consents, and agrees to obtain the signed consent of every member of the winning book club who wishes to attend the January meeting with the acclaimed author, to the use of their names, address (city and Province), voice, statements and / or photograph(s), without further compensation or authorization, to be used for promotional purposes by the Sponsor or any related entities in connection with this Contest. The Grand Prize winner will be required to follow all directions and instructions of the Sponsor or receipt of the Grand Prize may be forfeited. All information obtained from non-winning ballots shall become the property of the Sponsor and will be used only for the purpose of conducting this Contest. This Contest is subject to all relevant Canadian laws, is owned and operated by the Sponsor. The Sponsor is not responsible for any printing errors or omissions and reserves the right to cancel or amend this Contest in the event of such errors or omissions.
The Sponsor reserves the right, without prior notice and at any time, to terminate this Contest, in whole or in part, or modify this Contest in any way, should any factor interfere with its proper conduct as contemplated by these Official Rules and Regulations. The Sponsor is not responsible for lost, incomplete or illegible entries. Any attempt by an entrant to deliberately damage the website or undermine the legitimate operation of the Contest is in violation of criminal and civil laws and should such an attempt be made, the Sponsor reserves the right to seek remedies and damages from any such person to the fullest extent permitted by law, including criminal prosecution. The Sponsor reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to disqualify any individual it finds, in its sole discretion, to be tampering with the entry process or the operation of this Contest or web site; to be in violation of the terms of service of the web site; to be acting in violation of these Official Rules; or to be acting in a non-sportsmanlike or disruptive manner, or with intent to annoy, abuse, threaten or harass any other person.
Automated entries (including but not limited to entries submitted using any bot, script, macro or Contest service), copies, third-party entries, facsimiles and/or mechanical reproductions are not permitted and will be disqualified. In the event of multiple persons attempting to enter the Contest through one email account, the authorized account subscriber is deemed to be the natural person who is assigned an email address by an Internet access provider, online service provider or other organization, which is responsible for assigning email addresses or the domain associated with the submitted email address.
